Congo: The one of the most common natural disasters in Congo are volcanoes. Nyiragongo, which is an extremely hazardous volcano, last erupted in 2002 and is experiencing ongoing activity. This volcano poses a major threat to the city of Goma, home to a quarter million people, and many other cities nearby. This volcano produces unusually fast-moving lava that is known to travel up to 100 km /hr. Nyiragongo is greatly dangerous because of it's explosive history and close proximity to human population. This causes the people living near the volcano to fear being killed or loosing their homes due to the natural disaster.
