War

Congo: The first Congo war began in 1996 and continued into 1997, and part of 1998.The Congo war has become one of the biggest conflicts since World War II.The reason for this war between the countries citizens is because of a disagreement towards the presidents of the different countries, making them invade one another. During this time period a lot of innocent people died, some directly from the violence that takes place and many others due to the lack of medical care and hunger. Citizens of Congo fear the chance of there being another war.They fear the chance of more innocent people and loved ones dying due to this conflict.

Mobile,Alabama: While Congo has been faced with devastating circumstances, America is also being faced with the thought of war that includes places such as Mobile,Alabama. In April of 2014, there had been rumors of China and Korea making secret communications to plan an attack on America. During this time America feared missile attacks from North Korea. Both Alabama and Congo had been feared with war and have been fighting for peace and safety. Even though Mobile, Alabama has not recently been in a war, I would think that they would fear of what is going to happen in the future with being involved with the aspect of war.

Poverty

Congo: Certain parts of the world have high poverty rates, but none of these places has it as harsh as the Democratic Republic of Congo whose past and many wars have limited the nation’s potential to grow. Poverty is most severe in the Congo's rural areas where people are remote from other places and there is little investment. The people in poverty have roads and navigation channels that are in very poor condition which makes transportation and other costs high. Their access to food and water is also poor. In 2006, more than a third of children under five suffered from malnutrition. The people of Congo fear poverty and lack of nutrition everyday. Also, some children under the age of five suffer from malnutrition.   

Mobile, Alabama: Fortunately, in a place like Mobile, Alabama, the city tries their best to reduce poverty and make sure people are provided with the health care that they need. On the other hand, in Alabama one in four children live in poverty. Also, nearly one million people who live in Alabama are dependent on food stamps. The people of Mobile,  Alabama fear that the poverty rate in their city will increase. 

Epidemics/Disease

Congo: Epidemics are one of the leading causes of death in Congo. A few weeks after the flood on November 2012, the first cholera case was recorded. By the end of December, 59 cholera cases had been recorded and the infected people were being treated in hospitals. Ebola has also affected Congo. In 2014, an outbreak of Ebola virus disease occurred in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The country is now officially considered free of Ebola after having 42 days without a positive Ebola patient. Some other diseases in Congo are Malaria, Polio, and Typhoid. Congo is a third world country which means that they have poverty. This also means that people might have houses made out of dirt, rocks, and trees leading to bacteria filled homes, water, and food. The uncleanliness of the peoples homes, water, and food is a big factor in them getting sick. For example, many of the people live in insecure homes where Mosquitos can get through to bite them causing Malaria.

Mobile, Alabama: In Mobile, Alabama, and America, people don't have to fear diseases or being sick like people in third world countries, such as Congo. Fortunately, America has medicine and vaccinations to prevent illnesses and cure them. However, there are some diseases that people in Mobile, Alabama fear as well. Some of these illnesses are cancer, heart attacks, diabetes, and Alzheimers. Also, Americans don't get sick the same way citizens of Congo do.  In America, most people have houses made by profession constructors, clean water, and food bought from a store. Most citizens in America don't have to worry about getting sick from bacteria contaminated water or food like the citizens of Congo do.

Natural Disasters: Floods

Congo: Another deadly natural disaster that affects Congo is floods. In November 2012, heavy rains hit Pointe Noire, the second largest city in the Republic of Congo, causing severe and unpredicted flooding. Five people were killed and over 2,000 displaced. Destruction of the homes and things like overflowed wells caused long term problems such as homeless families and no water.

Mobile, Alabama: Floods also affect Mobile, Alabama. Hurricanes, which usually enter the State along the coast, can produce torrential rainfall and have caused disastrous floods. Floods in Alabama have been associated with a variety of weather disturbances and have affected many areas. Although Hurricane Frederic in September 1979 affected a relatively small area, it caused by far the greatest historical property damage-about $2 billion. Both Congo and Mobile, Alambama fear for unexpected floods which could happen at any time.
